Wisdom From Divorce: Are You Holding Any Grudges?

July 7, 2013 By Mandy Walker

Are you holding a grudge against your ex?  Are you still mad at yourself for something you did during your marriage? How would it feel to be free from those emotions?

I had to get to a place of completely letting go, completely forgiving her, completely forgiving myself and moving on. There’s no need to hold any grudges.

Carlos Phillips had been married for seven years when he got divorced in 2000. He’s the author of a book, Healed Without Scars and the founder of Healed Without Scars Ministries. When I asked Carlos what he saw as his greatest accomplishment since his divorce he didn’t mention either of these. What he said instead was learning about forgiveness.

Forgiveness doesn’t just apply to your ex, it applies to yourself also. It’s hard and it’s difficult but I think it’s one of the most powerful and healing gift you can give yourself.
