The marriage rate in the U.S. is at its lowest point in more than a century. One reason could quite possibly be the impact of parents’ marriages and divorces.

I really never cared whether I got married or not. To me it was more important to find somebody who really got me and wanted me to be in their life than to have a wedding and a legal acknowledgment of our relationship. ~ Ashley

Ashley is a child of divorce. Her parents’ divorce came as a relief because there was so much tension and distance between them. Her parents’ marriage and divorce had a profound impact: even as a teenager Ashley held strong views on marriage.
