Wisdom From Divorce: Parenting Is More Than Custody

Parents are often concerned that divorce will mean not spending as much time with their children and not seeing them as frequently. While parenting time is governed by your legal agreement there are often many other opportunities for you to stay involved with your child.

My STBX was given temporary custody of our daughter but as her mother I still have rights. I now go to school, have lunch with her, volunteer, go on field trips. That means even the days that she can’t be with me here in my home, I can go to the school and I can see her face. I can give her a kiss.

Marjorie and her husband were married for over seven years when during a disagreement Marjorie threw a picture at her husband. Marjorie then found herself accused of domestic abuse which lead to her STBX being awarded temporary custody and Marjorie being homeless. It all started when Marjorie told her husband, “I want a divorce.“
