When Mardell listened to her inner voice, she found the key to turning her life around after divorce. It was colonics – they not only helped Mardell recover from the spinal injury inflicted by husband #2, they were also the foundation to what is today a flourishing business. Here’s Mardell:
The same voice that told me I needed to do colonics, persisted and said,
“You will do this for others.”
“I can’t,” I said and I kept resisting until about colonic number twenty-four. By then the voice was so strong, I said,
“Ok, Ok.”
So I researched it and leveraged my home and everything I had. I took out loans on everything. My son and I would have been on the street I had failed.
I bought one colonic table and I got training. I was so hungry and so desperate at that point, I knew I had to make it. I built the business as fast as I could; I was giving them away, I was doing them cheap, anything to get people to try colonics and show them that I had something to share with them that was really, really important.
I started in a water closet in the back of another business and my landlord came and saw what I was doing and he saw I was being successful so he let me into the bigger location I’m in now. That little closet was a stepping stone.
I had a whole crew building the space out between Christmas and New Year’s and I opened the doors on January 2. I have been working steady ever since, showing people the miracle of what this is and continually working on myself and getting myself stronger and stronger.
That voice not only led me to colonics but it led me to my then future business which has allowed me ultimately to do what I feel I’ve been saved for on this earth. That is to help people get well, to help show them another way other than the mainstream way, to help them stand up against the forces that say,
“You can’t do it or it’s wrong or it’s bad or you’re dirty because you do that.”
Whatever they want to say, I don’t care because nobody can take away all that I’ve been through and all that has led me to this.
I love the strength and the confidence in Mardell’s voice – here’s a woman who’s been hell and back, twice, and is now standing firmly on her own two feet, being self-sufficient and supporting her son. Talk about transforming your life after divorce! Yet, before starting her colon therapy business, Mardell didn’t think she could have a business on her own, she didn’t think her life was complete without a man. Listening to her voice is what guided her and she shares more about that in the next post.
