I'm in a cabin at over 9,000 feet high, on a 2-mile non-maintained road. Doing the maintenance myself involves plowing the road, shoveling lots of snow, and bringing in wood for the woodburning stove that heats our house. Luckily my teenage son chops the wood and helps me plow. He's also replaced the trap under the sink - which does take muscle! We spent fall painting, repairing cracked concrete, and repairing the roof. (http://funclimbsaroundtheworld.com/?p=482)
I've discovered that WD-40 is a great help in cases where someting won't turn - soak it for a while!
